Sober Company, Sip & Paint, DJ Echonomist and a Besties Approved new series: What's New this May

HONG KONG April 29, 2026 — Soho, one of Hong Kong's most notorious night spots for world-renowned bars, restaurants and nightlife, isn't slowing down at all this year. It defines why Hong Kong truly is back. With offline connections and events being at the heart of what we love to do, The Pontiac, Cassio Social Club, Dead Poets, and Friday After Class have new, vibrant activations that will keep the nightlife scene on its toes with dancing shoes on.

Here is what is happening:

The Pontiac Academy: The Dive Bar Edition

After 10 years in the industry and being a veteran of the 50 Best Bars, The Pontiac has to say, or shall we say, shake? On May 9th, join Jen Queen of The Pontiac and rising star Nicole Slate for a 2-hour free-flow of margaritas. You will get to go behind the bar to learn to make two different margaritas; there are more than just one, such as Tommy’s margaritas, picantes and more. In true dive bar fashion, we are building a fully loaded build-your-own nacho station with a variety of house-made condiments and dips. The session runs from 4 PM to 7 PM and is $388 per person.

DJ Echonomist Debuts by Cassio Social Club

Cassio Social Club is bringing in DJ Echonomist on May 16th. Coming in from Greece, the maestro is making his debut appearance at the club. From his breakthrough Panic Attack EP on Afterlife to playing at Zamna in Tulum, Fabric in London, and Burning Man, he now brings that same energy to Hong Kong. Advanced tickets are available online for 300 HKD including one drink, or 350 HKD at the door including one drink.

Besties Approved Matchmaking Launch

The social event where your best friend is your best advocate. We’re bringing guests together for a match making night, where the best city’s best wingpeople take the stage to pitch their single friends. $200 per person or $350 for two including 1 drink each. For this special night on the terrace will be a martini trolley and a live burger grill! Our first event is at Cassio Social Club, and stay tuned for the summer series and location to be announced.

Sip & Paint at Dead Poets

On May 24th, we are putting the starving artist trope to bed, at least for the night. At Dead Poets, we have built a menu that toasts to history’s greatest rebels, misfits, and masters of the craft. Now, we are taking the Liquid Gallery concept off the glass and onto the canvas. Forget pristine studios and therapeutic vibes; this is paint-by-numbers for the restless, the unpolished, and the thirsty. We have the kits, the drinks, and the soundtrack. You bring the hand-eye coordination—or don't. Think Van Gogh’s madness and Warhol’s factory, served in a glass and painted on board. No art school ego, no rules, just a few hours to make something decent while you drink the good stuff.

The kit includes all painting materials with no prep or cleanup, plus two stiff cocktails from our Liquid Gallery menu to keep the inspiration flowing. Don't think, just paint. Your masterpiece is waiting, and the bar is open.

Sober Company Shanghai comes to Friday After Class

On May 13th, from 8 PM onwards, we are hosting a major guest shift with the team from Sober Company. Sober Company in Shanghai, led by renowned bartender Shingo Gokan, is a critically acclaimed multi-concept venue (No. 92, Asia's 50 Best Bars 2024; No. 5, 2021). We are thrilled to welcome Senior Bartenders Deema and Winnie, a Cointreau China champion and a world runner-up, to the bar. They are bringing their world-class expertise to our Peel Street home for the night.
